Professional development opportunities for infant-family practitioners who understand that babies can't wait.

Who Teaches at the Parent-Infant Study Center?

New Mexico has a growing pool of professionals with infant mental health competencies who are invited to share their expertise as learning facilitators at the Parent-Infant Study Center. As we join to learn together, practitioners create professional learning communities.

Jacqui Van Horn, MPH, IMH-E® created the Study Center with the hope of fostering a continually growing, collaborative learning community where people with interest in supporting babies and their families can come together to increase their competence. Jacqui is a recognized practice leader in the field of infant mental health. She is endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Mentor and provides competency-based professional development services throughout NM and the US. As a practitioner with IDEA, Part C and Maternal and Child Health expertise, Jacqui is committed to assuring that infant mental health competencies are effectively integrated across professional disciplines and work settings. To learn more about Jacqui's educational background and professional activities, you can view her resume here.

If you are an endorsed IMH professional and would like to contribute to the Parent-Infant Study Center learning community by offering professional development activities, for example, seminars, brown bag lunch discussions, study/reading groups, or reflective consultation groups, please contact Jacqui.

It is through our professional communities that practitioners, working in partnership with families, develop effective community-level systems of care for infants, young children and their families. As life-long learners, study center alumni become effective community activists, family advocates, and the “voice” for babies.

Professional development activities are based on the New Mexico Association for Infant Mental Health competencies leading to endorsement for Culturally-Sensitive, Relationship-based Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health ©  (Portions copyright © MI-AIMH, 2002, 2011) For more information about the NMAIMH, the competencies and endorsement, go to www.nmaimh.org
