Professional development opportunities for infant-family practitioners who understand that babies can't wait.

Reflective Practice Groups

Reflective practice is essential to effective infant-parent work. The ability to slow down and reflect on your own interactions, what you observe, think and feel while in the presence of babies and their caregivers is a skill that can be supported in the context of a reflective practice group. Reflective practice facilitation is offered for those professionals who are interested in improving their relationship-based practice.

  • Groups are designed to so that hours can be included as part of an endorsement portfolio.
  • Separate Reflective Practice groups are offered for Supervisors and for Infant-Family Practitioners/ Direct Service Providers.
  • Infant-Family practitioners are professionals (with or without degrees) who work with families and their infants and toddlers in one of a variety of settings.
  • Group reflective practice sessions are facilitated by Jacqui Van Horn. Jacqui's resume can be seen here.
  • Regularity, collaboration and reflection are the cornerstones of reflective practice. Reflective practice sessions will involve the same group of committed professionals for a minimum of ten monthly sessions.
  • Groups are starting frequently! Contact the Study Center to learn when the next group will begin.

Is it too difficult for you to travel to Albuquerque on a regular basis to participate in a reflective practice group? Contact the Study Center to explore how internet-based video-conferencing (you will need a web-camera) can be used to engage in reflective practice either individually or in small groups.
